First Thematic Workshop of the Infrastructure Financing and Public-Private Partnership Network of Asia and the Pacific Resilient PPP Infrastructure Development for Recovery Virtual Meeting15 December 2020 ESCAP organized the first thematic workshop of the Infrastructure Financing and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Network of Asia and the Pacific on “Resilient PPP Infrastructure Development for Recovery,” held virtually on 15 December 2020. In an effort to address the socioeconomic impact posed by COVID-19 in the region through the Infrastructure Financing and Public-Private Partnership Network of Asia and the Pacific, ESCAP is organizing a series of thematic capacity-building workshops to provide technical support to address the challenges related to PPP project implementation. With tailored technical training by PPP experts and in-depth interactions, the objective of the first thematic workshop was to address practical challenges faced during PPP project implementation as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The main session of this workshop offered presentations of project case studies and the exchange of views on best practices and possible solutions to enhance PPP project implementation in Asia and the Pacific under the pandemic. As a result of the network’s strong engagement, 18 countries (17 from Asia and the Pacific and one from Africa), 18 development organizations and private sector companies joined the workshop. The workshop gathered 97 participants online, including heads of PPP units, infrastructure financing specialists and capital market experts. The main sessions of this workshop are as follows: I. Presentation of project case studies by PPP experts to highlight practical challenges related to COVID-19;II.
