Project Overview

UP envisions a world-class hospital, accessible to the poor, with related educational and research facilities and specialized services that are not readily available in other public hospitals. The integrated healthcare, teaching, and research facilities are anticipated to provide a much higher efficiency and sustainable quality health services. The PGH Diliman Project seeks to complement and enhance the capabilities and capacity of PGH Manila, whilst helping to reduce increasing overcrowding issues.

PGH Diliman is envisioned to have three (3) major components:

  1. 700-bed University Teaching and Research Hospital with multispecialty capabilities
  2. College of Medicine
  3. Genomic Cancer Research Center

PGH Diliman will serve as the core referral facility for all primary and secondary health facilities in Quezon City and contiguous areas, helping as well to decongest the overcrowded hospitals in the area. It will be the foremost research hospital, considering that all the disciplines of learning are in the UP System. Taking advantage of its proximity to the Philippine Genome Center, the colleges of Engineering and the other Sciences, PGH Diliman will be an ideal place for generating innovations and breakthroughs in medicine. Government resources can be optimized further by collaborating with the other agencies surrounding it both for clinical and research activities.

PGH Diliman will propel research and applications on genomic, sports, and musculoskeletal medicine, reproductive health, neurovascular services, and disaster and risk reduction management. UP also envisions PGH Diliman to house a Genomics Cancer Research Center and Center for Infectious Diseases, among others.

The private sector partner will design, build, finance, and maintain the Project. This also includes the supply and installation of major medical and information and communications technology (ICT) equipment. All facility management services (building maintenance, major medical equipment maintenance, cleaning, laundry, security, etc.) will be included within the PPP while all medical teaching and research activities will be excluded from the PPP and undertaken by UP PGH.
